Project Overview
Tesla Outsourcing Services was engaged to develop a 4D BIM simulation of construction phases for a commercial building undergoing renovation and expansion on its fourth floor. The project phased model integrates both existing and new construction elements, visualizing schedule-based sequencing over time. The simulation was executed in Navisworks, utilizing the client’s duration and schedule data to coordinate phase activities against the model.
Client Requirement
The client required a time-linked 4D model that could reflect the construction sequencing for existing and upcoming building phases. Visualization needed to clearly distinguish between structural elements present at project start and new construction activities, aligned with project durations and scheduling provided by the client.
Scope of Work
- Integrated existing and new construction Revit models into Navisworks.
- Imported the client’s schedule/CSV data into Navisworks Timeliner.
- Created selection sets by linking model elements to scheduled tasks.
- Applied detailed appearance settings to differentiate construction phases.
- Configured 4D sequencing visualization and iterated changes as required.
- Produced fully rendered 4D simulation video outputs.
Project Highlights
- Time-linked 4D BIM simulation aligned with schedule data.
- Visualization of existing vs new construction phases.
- Use of Navisworks Timeliner workflows with CSV scheduling.
- Differentiated model appearance for clear phasing communication.
