Revit is one of the most widely used BIM software with a great user interface. It is used extensively in the Architectural and Engineering industry to work on design and development scope of work. It is also used in the post-construction phase for As-built Drawings, Facility Management, etc. Though there are many BIM software available in the market, Revit is the most popular software that is globally used.  It empowers us to bring all three disciplines of Architectural, Structural, and MEP Models together, coordinate, and finally deliver a complete, validated, and clash-free model cum drawings for onsite construction. Revit also has excellent interoperability features that enable other software or plugins to easily function in the BIM Environment. We can work with the whole BIM Services arena using this software along with different plugins. You can also analyze the complete virtual construction model for clashes, asset tagging, information, Schedules, construction phasing (4D and 5D), etc. along with energy analysis and facilities management.

Revit was first introduced by Leonid Raiz and Irwin Jungreis in the year 1997 in the USA ((Source: Wikipedia). This software was initially created with an intention of creating a 3D virtual model to just get an idea of a building design. Slowly with time, it evolved to provide many other services that the construction industry had just imagined at that point in time.  These advancements took place rapidly based on the issues that the industry constantly faced.  Building Information Modelling or BIM Services came into existence through Revit hence it has become synonymous now with the software.

This software upgrades itself with additional features year after year. The latest versions always come up with new plugins, features, or interoperability with other software. Let us talk about some advantages of Revit Modelling Services and why it is the most popular software. There is software like All-Plan, ArchiCAD, Bentley, etc. however this software are famous in certain countries or local regions. Owing to distinct interoperability features, the market for Revit modeling services is growing fast with many construction companies shifting to the parametric methods of construction from 2D.

Certainly, as a user, I am not trying to imply that any software is not capable to give good BIM Modelling Services, but after going through several tutorials and videos it does present me with a great end-to-end solution for all BIM requirements. Though some of the features may be available in all BIM software, we will talk about Revit only here.

Parametric Features:

Revit Models are parametric in nature and this is one of the key features that Architects and Construction companies are contemplating moving from CAD to BIMModelling Services. This means that the changes that we make to the 3D Model can reflect automatically in the 2D Plans and vice versa. The parametric feature saves a lot of time and effort. It also reduces the error-index drastically. There are many companies who still are unaware of the benefits this software can offer. Instead of thinking about investments, companies should think about the long-term benefits.

Zero redundancy:

There is zero repetition of work when you work with Revit. Since the BIM Model has all the building data in one single model, it gets easy to access and utilize them for different purposes. Any changes you make to any part of the model immediately translate to all other areas. This reduces construction time and also errors during construction. Anny issues in the design are spotted during the design and development stage hence the construction is faster without any major modifications in the model.

Energy Analysis:

Revit assists in sustainable building design to a great extent. It offers interoperability to many analysis tools and plug-ins that help in energy analysis. Apart from 3D BIM Modelling, it also offers 6D “Energy Analysis” and 7D “Facility Management” for complex building structures.

As-Built Modeling:

Revit also supports Scan to BIM Modelling Services using Recap. Laser scanners capture existing structures in point cloud formats. These point clouds in turn are converted into 3D BIM Models using Revit. These built models can be used for the renovation and retrofit of existing building structures, designing new structures, and demolition of these structures. Again the flexibility of using Revit enables the industry to utilize this software for the such difficult scope of work. Manual surveys and as-built drawing creation have been replaced by Point cloud with BIM Modelling services.

Revit Modelling Services is gaining immense popularity in countries like USA, UK, Australia, and Canada since many companies are transiting to BIM Services.
