Many people have been questioning the fact that should Autodesk have released this software version now. Well, I think it is useful for Autodesk to keep its staff working and attempting to keep up a feeling of regularity, as most different organizations are endeavoring to do.

However, we can use this time to figure out the updates and new features of the software and get ready for deployment. There are numerous features which has come in the new software update which has made it easier to use and user-friendly. Architectural BIM Services Providers and users make the best use of the update with Revit 2021 new features and enhancements.

We at Tesla Outsourcing Services, with the team of architects and engineers had a review session where we came out with the top significant and intriguing updates in Revit 2021.

1.Raster Image and PDF Files can be linked now

Revit 2020 was acquainted with the capacity to import PDFs into projects, yet Revit 2021 expands upon the fundamental usefulness with the capacity to link external documents, allowing clients to not increase the size of the projects superfluously and maintain visual fidelity, performance, and functionality. Earlier integrating images in Revit was a stressful and tedious task. Images could only be imported and not linked, which means the model would become heavier in size. This tool can be found in the insert tab.

2.Generative Design

The Generative Design tool in the new Revit 2021 is one of the top featuredupdate meant to help you quickly make design options amidst your work process. It permits you to indicate your design objectives, limitations, and information and automatically creates rapid fire iterations for review.

The generative design tool requires an Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Collection membership to utilize it.This tool can have colossal potential however will require further testing to decide how helpful version 1.0 really is.

For the moment, there are 3 types of pre-built examples in the Create Study tab.

  • Maximize Window Views: Generates numerous viewpoints. Calculates scores that represents the quality of views to the outside from there points.
  • Three Bos Massing: Generates simple massing models by varying the heights and relative positions of three boxes. Calculates façade and floor area
  • Workspace Layout: Generates rows of desks in a room considering doors, windows and columns. Calculates distance to exits, views to outside. Etc

3.Slanted Walls

In the new update, the wall tool is prepared to support slanted walls. The new orientation parameter with the existing column tool can be used to flip the walls from vertical to slanted. The tilt angle of the wall can be modified from +90 to -90 degree. The doors and windows can be hosted by the slanted walls which have their own toggles to follow the wall slope or be straight. If the project consists of architectural, structural or curtain walls then slanted walls can be used and it can be edited in plan, elevation, section and other perspective views. The way of interaction with the slanted walls is going to be the same as the interaction you would have with the vertical walls. The vertical wall can be changed to slanted and vice versa from now on excluding a few cases.

4.Customized Workspaces

Some updates in the Revit 2021 is a new feature while some are just enhancements. The Revit interface can now be customized as per the user preference as per the new customized workspaces feature with Revit 2021. Revit now has the ability to provide a workspace suggestion as per the user profile created. These suggestions are based on the work discipline and job role of the user.

5.Real-time Realistic Views

Revit 2021 has updated its visualization engine with an emphasis on giving a superior real-time rendering experience. Visual constancy has improved, with progressively reasonable lighting, presentation and material mapping. Moreover, the view navigation has been additionally streamlined to take into account smoother navigation through different views and perspectives. This new feature replaces the current Realistic View (and expels the old Ray Trace feature) in the Model Display settings for Revit. However, the visualization feature is still not par with the plugins we have like Enscape and Lumion for visualization. Autodesk is still trying to enhance this feature and make is as good as those plugins. Yet, the recent update on the visualization part has been a little better.

6.View filters

View filters can be disabled and enables in the Visibility and Graphics dialog to apply it to a view. The older versions of Revit, you needed to totally remove a filter from a view if you did not need the effect any longer. And in case you changed your mind and want the filters back, you have to manually keep including the filters all over again. With this new update you have the choice to activate or deactivate a filter in a view without having to totally exclude it every time.

7.Rotate tag option with components improvement

In past version of Revit, tag rotationwas restricted to horizontal or vertical. They could not coordinate the rotation angle of the related component. In Revit 2021, tags can now be able to coordinate the rotation angle of a component. When the box is checked with the tag family option rotate with element, the tag will rotate along with the element.
