BIM aka Virtual Construction Modeling is one of the latest construction technology that promises fast and cost effective management of the overall construction process. In case you are thinking about venturing into BIM, this article will give you an overview of what BIM Modeling or Virtual Construction Modeling is all about. Let us discuss what is in store for the construction business using this technology.

Though Building Information Modeling has become a common term in the construction industry, there are a lot of construction companies that shy away from this technology. Very few buildings are constructed using this technology. Quite a few companies use BIM today for the daily activities or maintenance of old buildings. It is always difficult to bring and implement change in any industry or organization. One of the common questions that knock our heads are. Why we need this? Have we not run our business without a new technology? Who will train the staff or what will the cost be? All these questions stop us from working towards bringing a change that can save money or in future can bring about a revolution in a particular field.

Though very few companies are using BIM today, it has excellent potential to expand and grow, provided companies understand its importance. We may always think that when projects are being executed currently without this technology, why do we need use BIM Services and why to add on a setup cost, training cost and take up a new route altogether, after gaining success through another route.

Let us see the benefits here. Why should companies avail BIM Services? When we talk about new methodologies, we should be able to see the benefits. More importantly, we should be able to see the concerns we are facing with the traditional methods. The reason we don’t want to change anything with the existing method is that we have gotten comfortable with the techniques though they are flawed, inaccurate, paper based methods that can be lost, burnt or stolen any time, static information that can change. Most importantly, current traditional methods can be very cumbersome when we work on renovation or any kind of refurbishment of buildings. In such a scenario referring to old CAD Drawings and then working on the as-built or proposed plan will be a very feasible task. Here is how BIM Services can come to your rescue.

Virtual Construction Modeling is a great solution to such issues. It has excellent parametric features that can resolve updating issues. One modification can be done in multiple areas using Revit software or any other BIM Software without many efforts. It is easy to save and store a Revit 3D Model. You can access the model later to make any changes or extract relevant building data such as 2D CAD Drawings, Quantities, Material specifications etc. This model will act as a complete interface offering all building related data and provide you with any information at any point of time.

BIM Models will act as life savior while executing all type of maintenance tasks or renovation. With growing need of renovating old buildings and constructing new ones, it is mandatory that we have all the information handy else it can be a time consuming and expensive exercise. It becomes extremely fruitful to maintain the digital copy of the building for future purposes. It is the time that we think the opportunities that await us in disguise of BIM. It will connect us with real-time construction reporting and future cost along with budgeting.
